Meet Lindy

K–12 Education and Technology Trainer, Speaker, Author

I have spent my career in various roles in the education field, including classroom teacher, curriculum writer, technology integration specialist, education trainer, and professional development manager. During my time as a classroom teacher, I had a 1:1 environment as my classroom was a computer lab!

Through this experience, it became clear to me that technology, if leveraged correctly, can help to create powerful learning experiences. However, the path to powerful learning is not always clear. This is why I started InTECHgrated Professional Development. I wanted to fulfill this need for K–12 schools and teachers.

As someone who loves to learn, I spend a lot of my spare time pondering how to make learning better. And so, I found my strength and passion helping educators utilize technology to enhance learning experiences.

The Book

A Teacher's Guide to Online Learning: Practical Strategies to Improve K–12 Student Engagement in Virtual Learning

To help educators with digital learning initiatives, I wrote A Teacher’s Guide to Online Learning. I literally wrote the book on how to plan for and implement powerful learning.

Online learning is different from face-to-face learning. Let's not sugarcoat that.

Are you a K–12 educator who is teaching students over the internet with no face-to-face interaction? Online learning does present new challenges, but it can be really great for both students and teachers!

A Teacher’s Guide to Online Learning addresses the most common questions of new online instructors head-on by presenting key takeaways to guide virtual learning design. Lindy Hockenbary brings her experience as a classroom teacher and instructional technologist to focus on the how-tos of remote learning. When it comes to educational technology, her motto is “use the tool that is right for the job.” Every online teacher has to find what works best for their unique mix of teaching style, content area, learner demographics, individual learner personalities, and access to digital instructional tools. To provide a well-rounded perspective on the topic of online learning, other classroom teachers, school leaders, and instructional technologists have contributed to the book as well.

This book was designed with K–12 teachers in mind, but the majority of information can be applied to higher education/postsecondary learning environments as well.
